How do I turn off push notifications/pop-up?

How to stop browser notifications

Chrome

  1. While in the Chrome browser, click the three-dot menu icon in the browser’s upper right-hand corner and select “Settings.”
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, click “Advanced,” then click the “Site Settings” option under the “Privacy and security” header.
  3. Click “Notifications” on the screen that appears next.
  4. Click the toggle next to “Ask before sending (recommended).” That’ll cause the toggle to turn from blue to gray and the text to change to “Blocked.”
  5. If you just want to block certain websites, you can either click “Add” at the top of the “Block” section and enter in the site’s URL. If you see the site you want to block in the “Allow” section, you can click the three dots next to it and select “Block.”

If these instructions don’t match what you see when you click the three-dot menu icon, visit Google’s support site for the latest instructions. If your browser is out of date, try closing it and re-opening it. If that doesn’t work, click here for instructions on how to update it.

Firefox

  1. While in the Firefox browser, click on the three-line menu icon in the browser’s upper right-hand corner and select “Options.”
  2. Click “Privacy & Security” in the menu on the left.
  3. Scroll down to the “Permissions” section and click the “Settings” button next to “Notifications.”
  4. Check the box next to “Block new requests asking to allow notifications.”
  5. If you want to block a specific site that shows up under “Website,” click the downward-facing arrow under “Allow” and select “Block.”

OR

  1. If you don’t see “Options” in the three-line upper right-hand menu, select “Privacy Protections.”
  2. Under “Enhanced Tracking Protection,” select “Manage Settings.”
  3. Scroll down to the “Permissions” section and click on “Settings” next to “Notifications.”
  4. Check the box next to “Block new requests asking to allow notifications.”
  5. If you want to block a specific site that shows up under “Website,” click the downward-facing arrow under “Allow” and select “Block.”

If neither of these instructions match what you see when you go to the three-line menu icon, visit Mozilla’s support site and select the version and type of computer you have in the top right-hand corner. Click here for instructions on how to find your browser version.

Safari

  1. While in Safari, go to the “Safari” tab in the menu at the top left-hand corner of your screen and click “Preferences.”
  2. Click on the “Websites” tab at the top.
  3. Select “Notifications” in the left-hand menu.
  4. You will see a list of websites that have asked for permission to send you notifications. Next to each website, you can choose to “Allow” or “Deny” from the drop-down menu.

If these instructions don’t match what you see when you go to “Safari” in your menu, visit Apple’s support site and select the operating system you’re using in the top left-hand corner. If you don’t know what version you have, click here.

Edge

  1. While in Microsoft Edge, click on the three horizontal dots in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Click on “Settings.”
  3. In the “Search Settings” bar, type in “notifications.”
  4. Click on the highlighted “Notifications” section.
  5. If you have allowed a website to send you notifications, you will see it under “Allow” section.
  6. To change that permission, click the three horizontal dots next to the site and select “Block” or “Remove.”

If these instructions don’t match what you see when you click on the three horizontal dots in the upper right-hand corner, try updating your browser by closing and re-opening it. If that doesn’t work, click here to download the latest version.

How to stop app notifications

If you use any of our apps and don’t want notifications from them, you’ll need to go into the settings on your device to control notifications.

iPhone & iPad App

1. For iPad and iPhone app users, go to the “Settings,” app on your device.

2. Scroll down until you see “Epoch Times,” and select it. You may need to scroll for a while depending on how many apps you have.

3. Select “Notifications” and then hit the toggle next to “Allow Notifications.” When it is white, it means notifications have been disabled.

Android App

1. Navigate to The Epoch Times app on your Android phone. Touch and hold the app, then select “App Info.”

2. Scroll down to the “App Settings” section and select “Notifications.”

3. Switch “Show Notifications” to the off position by changing the toggle position till it turns white.

How to stop text messages

To stop unwanted text messages from The Epoch Times, reply “STOP” to any unwanted text message.
